Here’s what’s on offer In October at our usual venue, Risley Village Hall, Derby Rd, Risley, DE72 3SU. All classes run from 10am-4pm. Tuition Fee £50 plus some classes may have an additional materials charge payable to the tutor on the day. All classes are suitable for beginners and some classes require the use of a sewing machine. Contact individual tutors to book. All payments are by BACS and tutors will provide payment info on booking. There is ample free parking at the venue. Light refreshments will be provided f.o.c. On the day.

Fabric Decorations with tutor, Tony Toon

Create delightful decorations from a choice from three unique designs. Suitable for all abilities including beginners, but the ability to do small neat stitching is required. Fabric will be available on the day but if a specific theme is desired, please bring your own fabric and embellishments. a materials list is provided on booking. Silk Paper Crackers with tutor, Jane Marrows

Create delightful reusable crackers to use as gifts or for your Christmas tree or table. You will make textured paper from silk fibres with inclusions and then decorate it with hand/machine stitch and embellishments, plus assembling in the afternoon. Materials will be available on the day at £10 per person, enough to make two crackers or bring your own as per the supplied Materials list. Wednesday 30th October ‘Weave a Silk Purse’ with tutor, Sarah Cooke

Using recycled silk yarn and ribbons you will learn how to weave a beautiful silk purse, which can be used as a as a phone pouch or specs case, for make up or even money. Festive Birds with tutor, Jane Marrows

Print your own fabric using a gelli-plate and then create a unique festive bird using a pattern provided on the day. add embellishment preferably with machine stitch but hand stitch is an option then decorate wit beads buttons trims or sequins Finish by making a decorative cord to hang in the window, from your tree or door. Time permitting make a small decorative tasset to complete the look. Use of all printing equipment and stencils is free. Materials including acrylic paints and fabrics will be available on the day at £6 per person. Materials list available on booking. please bring your own beads and trims etc but a small selection will be available on the day. N.B. The use of a sewing machine is advisable.
